Deejo x Wazzim Razzouk : A 700 YEAR LEGACY HONORED BY DEEJO KNIVES
02/01/2025
In the heart of Jerusalem, just steps from Jaffa Gate, lies Wassim’s tattoo studio—a place where history and artistry come together. Wassim Razzouk represents the 25th generation of a remarkable lineage of Coptic Christian tattoo artists, a family tradition spanning over 700 years.
To this day, Wassim continues to tattoo pilgrims and visitors to Jerusalem’s Old City, using olive wood stamps intricately carved with designs handed down through centuries. Some of these stamps are over 500 years old, a testament to his family’s enduring legacy.
Now, for the first time, Wassim’s art moves beyond the skin to adorn Deejo knives. This collaboration honors his ancestral craftsmanship, characterized by the minimalist and strikingly raw style unique to the Razzouk lineage.
The delicate engravings, featured on a set of six steak knives and a stunning Deejo pocket knife, evoke the simple, authentic forms of Coptic tattoos—art that has been inked on the skin for centuries.
Each Deejo blade adorned with these designs becomes a symbol of an ancient artistic tradition, carrying a rare cultural heritage that celebrates timeless simplicity and elegant beauty.
Deejo x Razzouk, 37g Pocket Knife, gray titanium finish, olive wood handle, €89.90 (incl. tax).

The little story of tattooing
For a long time on the periphery of Western culture, tattooing is no longer the sole purview of the sailors and the sacred. Practiced throughout time and all over the world, the art of tattooing (from the Polynesian Tatau) dates back to 1300 BCE, in which colouring the skin marked the important stages of life.
In the Middle Ages and until the end of the 19th century, tattooing, considered a pagan practice, was banned by the Church everywhere in Europe. It then became the tradition of mariners as well as prisoners, for the latter in particular in Russia where inmates did not hesitate
The tattoo in the Western world, long reserved for those at society’s margins, including gangs and bad boys, established itself in the 1980s in pop culture, promoted by rock stars, punk and rap music.
Tatouage magazine
